This is a page meant to give people an idea of what I'm working on. I'm an aspiring polyglot, and I want to learn several programming languages as well. BASH scripting, Python, and RUST all particularly appeal to me, as does practical Russian.

Ring Doorbell Custom Firmware

After watching this talk by Bradley Kuhn, I had the great idea to write my own custom firmware for a doorbell video camera. They're incredibly spooky, and I'm very skeptical that all of the data coming out of my network is only going where I want it to. When it's in a state that I find acceptable to place on Github, I believe the link should be here.

Learning Russian

I greatly lament that I need to read translations of Dostoyevsky. The difficulties that make Russian so strange to translate accurately must necessarily mangle the prose, and I believe it would be like a baptism of sorts to reread Notes from Underground (which, the title itself can be argued to be mistranslated, as it would be more accurate to title the piece 'Notes from the Crawl Space', which is a place not big enough for humans, but is perfectly suitable for rodents and vermin [and ghosts! evil ones.]). However, the same issues that make Russian devilish to translate make it incredibly awkward to learn. For instance, Russian has 6 grammatical cases, that is, positions in grammar that change the form of a word, where English only has three that only apply to pronouns. How nice.
